with George Mason University, School of Public Policy/Policy Analysis Center presentes
this one-day event. Conference Hours: 8:30 am - 5:15 pm About
this conference This conference is a forum where industry can discuss
with Government what the future may hold for Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP).
It addresses the strategies, critical success factors and experiences with implementing
ERP solutions in public sector organizations. Recent House Appropriation
language indicates a desire to halt new systems development, meanwhile DoD has
halted new systems pending the results of a study of approaches to Enterprise
systems in DoD. OMB has been given oversight for IT projects within the Federal
enterprise. Where is ERP in the public sector headed? Attendees will hear
Government and industry executives offer various perspectives on how ERP systems
are being implemented within the unique environments of governmental structures
and processes. Since ERP relies heavily on following process models dictated
by the applications, considerable time will be spent in assessing the impact this
has on government organizations. Can COTS ERP be an effective strategic solution
for e-Government, or is its effectiveness limited by the very nature of Government
roles, processes and missions? Presentations will be made on progress to
date, successes and obstacles, lessons learned, and the outlook for the future
of ERP in the public sector. Sponsorships are available. -
