Successful Internet-based businesses rely on rapid development and deployment of software to deliver new features to customers. They use agile methods and have reduced the time to test, integrate and put capability into production.
Yet implementing agile is a challenge for many enterprises, and particularly Governments. Successful use of agile requires new processes and tools, different testing and integration schemes, a different approach to governance, different types of metrics, and a different mindset. Changing all of this at the same time is a challenge.
This event is about the evolving enterprise IT infrastructure, and how technology-dependent organizations can improve IT reliability and business value while leveraging technology to improve competitiveness, service delivery and customer/citizen satisfaction.
The event examines the benefits and challenges of modern IT infrastructures, with a focus on the intersections and touch points between the public and private sector. The content will addresses lean, agile, devops and big data principles, and provides attendees with information on how they can approach these in the context of their own enterprise.
The IT Conundrum: greater speed AND higher reliability. Business is done through IT. That is a basic reality of today, creating two camps in IT organizations: operations and development. These work towards fundamentally different goals. Operations need stability, security and control in the production environments. Developers need agility and flexibility to deliver the shiny new feature demanded by businesses and customers. Each is crucial to success.

Session 1 - Scaled Agile Framework
Achieving Scaled Agile With the Scaled Agile Framework
Instructor: Al Shalloway, CEO, Net Objectives
This tutorial discusses what it takes to achieve Agile at scale and how to use the Scaled Agile Framework to accomplish it. The Scaled Agile Framework is not an approach based on a philosophy, but rather one based on years of experience of several thought leaders who have helped their clients achieve success of Agile at scale. It is a set of practices based on the Lean-Agile mindset that can achieve those outcomes that have proven to be necessary at scale.
This tutorial presents the challenges of Agile at scale and discusses how a bottom-up team based approach, or a pure Kaizen only approach, is insufficient for transitioning organizations. SAFe is presenting by identifying the essential outcomes required for large-scale agility that it helps manifest. Hence, we see why SAFe is organized as it is and why the practices is espouses are necessary. This combination of principles, practices and frameworks provides both an understanding of SAFe and how one might tailor it for their needs if necessary. Agenda:
